Times Higher Education (THE)’s Latin America Universities Summit 2023, which takes place in person for the first time in four years, is on Monday 3 and Tuesday 4 July 2023 at Tecnológico de Monterrey, México.

Comprising insights from university leaders and industry experts the event in Monterrey, the capital of the northeastern Mexican state of Nuevo León, will look at regional collaboration and discuss how universities are driving social progress.

On the first day of the summit, at the gala dinner, THE’s Latin America University Rankings 2023 will be exclusively revealed. This is accompanied by a bespoke masterclass exploring the performance of universities in the region in a global context.

Marina Bombana, Times Higher Education’s Marketing lead for the World Summit Series, said:

“We’re especially excited this year’s Latin America Universities Summit is in person for the first time in four years as it will provide attendees far more tangible opportunities to meet new people, network and share best practices.

“We are delighted to be partnering with Tecnológico de Monterrey as they are especially keen to promote their university, Mexico and Latin America as a world class destination to carry out research, to teach, study and collaborate.”

The agenda involves:

  • Driving impactful research in Latin America through inter-regional and international collaborations
  • Increasing student opportunities and mobility in Latin America
  • Addressing the present and future needs of Latin America’s population
  • Prioritising and diversifying funding to meet institutional research goals
  • The social impact of internationalisation

Neil Hernández, Research director at Tecnológico de Monterrey, said:

“We’re delighted we’re partnering with Times Higher Education and hosting THE Latin American Universities Summit 2023 this July in Monterrey.

“It will be a great opportunity to reconnect in person, especially this year as we celebrate 80 years of driving academic excellence, educational innovation and entrepreneurship.”

Last year THE’s Latin America Universities Summit, which was held online, included CETYS University System president, Fernando León-García, Rector at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Denise Carvalho, and Wilmer Reyes, Rector of National University of Agriculture (Honduras).

THE’s host partner, Tecnológico de Monterrey, is a private, not-for-profit, multi-campus university. It is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year and, since its foundation, has been notable for its academic excellence, educational innovation, entrepreneurship and global vision, as well as outreach to industry and employers.

It has campuses in 28 Mexican cities, 67,000 undergraduate and graduate students, almost 7,000 professors and more than 300,000 alumni. In THE’s Latin America University Rankings 2022, it is top in Mexico and fifth in Latin America. It belongs to several prestigious international networks, including the Association of Pacific Rim Universities, Universitas 21 and the Worldwide Universities Network.
