World University Rankings 2021 by subject: arts and humanities

The arts and humanities subject table uses the same trusted and rigorous performance indicators as the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2021, but the methodology has been recalibrated to suit the individual fields.

The ranking highlights the universities that are leading across the following disciplines: art, performing arts, design, languages, literature, linguistics, history, philosophy, theology, architecture and archaeology.

This year’s table includes 565 universities, up from 536 last year.

The Netherlands’ Delft University of Technology is the highest new entry at 65th place.

Elsewhere, China’s performance has slipped, with its top three representatives all declining since last year. It now has two universities in the top 100, down from three.
